Lamborghini Revuelto Revealed! A Hybrid That Ushers In A New Era Of Lamborghini Supercars

Revuelto! That is the name of the latest Lamborghini flagship supercar. Lamborghini has finally unveiled the long-awaited Aventador replacement and has named it the Revuelto. The name Revuelto loosely translates to ‘disruptive.’ It is Lamborghini’s first plug-in hybrid supercar and boasts technology and engineering that make futuristic cars look old-school.

Lamborghini Revuelto

One thing is certain. The Revuelto is disruptive in every sense of the word, and it had to be that way because it has to fill the gap left by the Venerable Lamborghini Aventador. The Lamborghini Aventador was launched in 2011 at the Geneva Motor Show and it remained the definition of a supercar for over a decade that followed.

In 2022, Lamborghini announced it was the end of the road for the Aventador and it would be replaced by a completely new supercar. Years of development and hundreds of spy images later, the new supercar in question has now been officially revealed. So what is the Lamborghini Revuelto all about?

Edgy Design & Styling

Lamborghini is known to make dramatic-looking cars that look fast even while it is at a standstill. The new Revuelto is no different. It is a striking supercar with lots of sharp edges. The ‘Y’ design is quite prevalent, much like the limited-edition Lamborghini Sian.

The headlamps and tail lights are horizontally laid and opposed ‘Y’ shapes. The same can also be found on the massive air intakes on the sides. According to Lamborghini, the Y design was inspired by stealth fighters. In fact, the Italian marque refers to the driver and passenger of the Revuelto as a pilot and co-pilot respectively.

Despite incorporating a completely new design, Lamborghini has included a few elements that hark back to a few iconic Lambos. The side profile is very much reminiscent of a Lamborghini Aventador and the floating blade on the rear fenders reminds us of the Lamborghini Diablo. The staggered and inclined front end brings some Murcielago vibes with it.

It is not just about design and styling but about function as well. Apart from making the car look aggressive, the massive diffuser at the rear generates lots of downforce while also cooling the engine. The Revuelto gets an active rear wing that adjusts its angle according to the situation or according to the mode the car is being driven in.

Lamborghini claims the Revuelto is 61 percent more aerodynamically efficient than the Aventador and there is a 66 percent increase in downforce at higher speeds. You also get the signature Lamborghini scissor doors and an option to choose from different wheel and tyre sizes. Want more options? There are 400 colour options you can have the supercar painted in.

Interior & Features

The interior can be decked in 70 different colour options and it does look very appealing indeed. Lamborghini has made use of three different touchscreen displays inside the Revuelto. In front of the driver is a 12.3-inch instrument cluster. On the centre console is an 8.4-inch touchscreen placed vertically.

In front of the passenger is a slim 9.1-inch screen that displays lots of information and also allows the ‘Co-Pilot’ to perform co-pilot duties like handling climate control, navigation, and music. Needless to say, controls for the same are also available on the centre console just in case the pilot heads out for a sortie without the co-pilot. You also get Amazon Alexa built-in and the Revuelto is capable of getting over-the-air updates.

Big V12 Goodness

In an age where most manufacturers are phasing out larger engines in favour of smaller capacity engines with fewer cylinders, Lamborghini has chosen to stick to its classic flagship supercar formula. The very first Lamborghini car was powered by a V12 engine and it is a tradition to stick a V12 engine in the engine bay of a flagship.

With the Revuelto too, Lamborghini has opted for a large 6.5-litre V12. However, this time around, Lamborghini is doing more for the environment than ever before. It is the first production hybrid V12 from Lamborghini.

The 6.5-litre V12 is capable of revving to 9,500rpm and is now paired with three electric motors. It produces a combined power output of 1,001bhp. The motors are powered by a small 3.8kWh battery pack. The Lamborghini Revuelto can be driven in hybrid or pure electric mode. In the latter, the Revuelto can go up to 10 kilometres in electric mode only. After this, the engine would have to be started up to charge the batteries.

Lamborghini revealed details of the Revueto’s hybrid powertrain earlier this month. Here’s an in-depth look into the engine & hybrid system of the Lamborghini Revuelto.

Lamborghini Revuelto Acceleration & Top Speed

Performance, as expected, is explosive. Lamborghini claims the Revuelto can clock the 0-100km/h run in just 2.5 seconds while 0-200km/h comes up in just 7 seconds. Flat out, the supercar will do 350km/h.

Pricing & Availability

Prices for the Lamborghini Revuelto haven’t been revealed yet. The supercar is estimated to be priced at around $850,000 (AED 3.1 Million). When it comes to availability, the Revuelto is sold out for two years. Lamborghini claims most of the bookings were made by buyers who didn’t even see the car before booking it.

In the UAE though, things are a little different. Despite it being sold out, there is a possibility that one of the premium car dealers might have booked a few units and one can then buy it from the dealer.
