AXL Sharx-5 Luxury Electric SUV Revealed — World Premiere Takes Place In Dubai

AXL Electric Vehicles recently revealed the Sharx-5 luxury electric vehicle. The Sharx-5 recently had its world premiere in the UAE at two prestigious events, in Dubai & Abu Dhabi. Canada-based AXL Electric Vehicles manufactures affordable luxury electric vehicles and the Sharx-5 is its first product. The Sharx-5 is priced at around AED 146,000 and buyers can reserve their luxury EV by logging onto the AXL website.

Design & Styling

Incredibly stylish and futuristic are words that perfectly describe the AXL Sharx-5. The front end wears a very aerodynamic appearance. The vertical headlamps are unique, stretching from the bonnet to almost the bottom of the bumper. The lower grille has vertical slats and there is an LED strip that connects the two headlamps. The AXL logo takes centre stage and is even backlit.

Move over to the side, and the AXL Sharx-5 trades aerodynamic styling for a proper full-size SUV design. It has a sloping roofline and a dual-tone paint scheme. The uniqueness of the Sharx-5 continues with the alloy wheels. These 20-inch wheels bear a design unlike any other and look like they are taken straight from a concept design. The split LED tail lamps are connected by an LED light bar and they look stunning.

Futuristic Interior

AXL claims the Sharx-5 is the future of luxury and this might have something to do with the interior. The insides of the Sharx-5 seem like a tech-lovers paradise. One can choose between white and black as the interior theme. The dashboard has a very futuristic, yet practical design.

The Sharx-5 features a two-spoke steering wheel with mounted controls, and behind it is a screen that displays all the information about the vehicle. In addition, the AXL Sharx-5 has two other screens. The front passenger gets a dedicated screen and in the middle is a larger tablet mounted vertically on the dashboard. AXL says Apple Carplay & Android Auto is integrated into the vehicle.

In addition, users can control a variety of vehicular operations using the dedicated app on their smartphones. The Sharx-5 is also capable of receiving over-the-air updates.

Capable Electric Powertrain

Powering the AXL Sharx-5 is a 67kWh battery pack. The electric SUV is driven by a 209hp motor which is capable of propelling the vehicle from 0-100km/h in just 7.4 seconds. With this setup, the Sharx-5 has a claimed range of around 500 kilometres.

Summarising what the AXL Sharx-5 is all about, Ali Eslami, CEO of AXL said, “At AXL, we believe that more people would make the switch to electric mobility if there was a luxury electric vehicle that was more affordable. Our obsession with making luxury electric vehicles lies in our belief that affordability should not mean you have to compromise on luxury. You can have both.”

AXL is currently taking reservations for the Sharx-5 and deliveries are expected to begin in a few months. Until then, AXL would set up dealerships & service centres in the UAE. The Sharx-5 is a global product and yet, the world premiere took place in Dubai which shows that the UAE & Dubai are important for luxury EVs.
