TVS X Electric Scooter Launched With 140KM Range: New Transformers Recruit?

TVS has launched its second electric scooter called the X. The launch event was held in Dubai with the Burj Khalifa acting as the canvas. The scooter is available in India for Rs 2.50 lakh (around AED 11,125). However, TVS is also confident in bringing the scooter to the Middle Eastern market later this year.

TVS X Electric Powertrain

The TVS X uses a 7kW Permanent Magnet Synchonous Motor coupled to a 4.44kWh battery pack. The motor produces 15hp and 40Nm peak torque. The motor is also ram-air cooled for maximum thermal efficiency. This gives the electric scooter a 0 to 40kmph time of 2.6 seconds and a top speed of 105kmph. Riders also get to choose from three ride modes: Xtealth, Xtride and Xonic. Additionally, the TVS X also features regenerative braking with varying levels.

Charging the TVS X from 0 to 80% using an included 950W charger takes about 3 hours and 30 minutes. Using an optional 3kW Smart X Home rapid charger will juice up the scooter from 0 to 50% in 50 minutes. The rapid charger costs Rs 16,275, which is around AED 750.

TVS X Design

The TVS X is heavily based on the TVS Creon electric scooter concept showcased at the Auto Expo 2018 in India. The TVS X is constructed on an all-new platform called Xleton frame using a cast aluminium alloy frame at its core. According to TVS, the frame offers 2X torsional stiffness and 4X the vertical stiffness compared to a standard electric scooter. It is safe to say, the X can go around the bends well.

Speaking about the design, the scooter looks like it will transform in front of you and make you feel like Shia Lebouf from the Transformers movie. The maxi-scooter design also robs the footwell space available on a traditional electric scooter due to a spine feature. Exterior design features include:

TVS X Features

At the heart of the TVS X’s features is a 10.2-inch display sitting on the dash of the scooter. It features customisable home screen layouts, and while the scooter is stationary it also becomes a gaming console via PlayTech technology. You can watch videos too while at a standstill. The console can also be tilted to adjust the viewing angle as per the rider.

TVS SmartXConnect allows you to pair your smartphone to the console and deep dive into rider statistics and a ton of other features. Alternatively, riders can connect the scooter to their smartwatch and their helmet intercom. The scooter can be unlocked in 4 different ways including a sharable digital key.

In India, the TVS X has now become the most expensive electric scooter on sale. However, in the UAE, BMW retails the CE 04 electric maxi-scooter that is placed at a much higher price bracket than the TVS X. As mentioned earlier, TVS will start deliveries of the X from November 2023.
