Porsche recently launched the latest iteration of their popular four-door performance sedan, the Panamera, at the ‘Icons Of Porsche’ event concluded in Dubai. This event, marking one of the largest gatherings of Porsche fans in the Middle East, served as the ideal platform to showcase the new 2024 Panamera.
The new Panamera has undergone design updates, incorporating new interior features and a more powerful hybrid powertrain. Additionally, the facelifted performance sedan now features an all-new semi-active and fully active suspension, promising a significant enhancement in handling.
Powertrain Updates
The third-gen Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid boasts an upgraded hybrid drive system, delivering 680hp and 930Nm of torque. Accelerating from 0-100kph in just 3.2 seconds, the Turbo E-Hybrid integrates a more powerful electric motor within the 8-speed dual-clutch transmission housing, enhancing regen capacity by 35kW to 80kW. The new battery, with a 25.9kWh capacity, provides a 70% increase in the electric-only range.
The Panamera and Panamera 4 now feature a turbocharged 2.9-litre V6 engine, generating an increased power output of 348 hp and 500Nm torque. The V6 propels the standard model to 96km/h in 5.0 seconds with a top speed of 272km/h. The all-wheel-drive Panamera 4 accomplishes the same in 4.7 seconds, reaching a top speed of 270km/h.
New Suspension
The third-gen Panamera introduces two new suspension systems: a semi-active and a fully active one. The semi-active system utilizes a two-chamber air spring setup for faster and more precise reactions. It incorporates shock absorbers that can independently control rebound and compression. In addition to independent control, the suspension system boasts a notably higher damping force.
The fully active suspension in the third-gen Panamera uses a single-chamber air spring for design simplicity and superior dynamic performance. It dynamically responds to road conditions, exerting force when needed, eliminating the need for anti-roll bars and simplifying the handling dynamics.
New Design
The new Panamera maintains a similar appearance to its predecessor but with a few changes. Now, the sedan features an extra air inlet above the front license plate for enhanced cooling of its upgraded powertrain lineup. The design includes new window lines and frog-eyed LED headlights. Additionally, new chariot-wheel-like alloys with optional central knock-off hubs are introduced.
New Interior Features
The interior of the Panamera showcases a redesigned centre console, relocating the gear selector to the right of the steering wheel and onto the dash, resembling the setup in the all-electric Taycan.
The new Panamera shares design changes with the Cayenne, featuring a curved digital instrument panel from the Taycan. The 12.6-inch curved instrument panel and a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen are complemented by an optional 10.9-inch secondary touchscreen for the front passenger.
